10 Best Mid-Sized Cities to Live for Health Care Access – 2020 Edition

There are several reasons why Americans would move to large cities compared to rural areas like better job markets, more educational opportunities, and diverse lifestyles. However, factors like the high cost of living, increased crime, and stifling road traffic have made Americans become more attracted to smaller communities rather than large, densely populated cities.

One of the benefits of living in cities rather than small towns is that the distance to health care is closer to residents in cities. According to the Pew Research Center, 23% of Americans in rural communities say that access to good doctors and hospitals is a major problem in their community, compared with 18% of urban dwellers and 9% of suburbanites. Luckily, when a person chooses to live in that mid-sized city, they will not have to sacrifice much of the big city lifestyle to have access quality to health care relative to small towns.

We looked at cities that have at least 100,000 residents but fewer than the population of the Top 100 cities for our review to find out how easy it would be for a resident to access quality health care.
